Either method whould work, depending on configuration. Please refer to Jboss setup e-mail for instructions how to startup/shutdown Jboss.
Login into your shell and issue the following command:
nohup /home/user1/jboss/bin/run.sh &
Make sure the path to your run.sh is correct.
