To begin, you need an FTP client. You can download an FTP client from any number of sources on the web. A good place to start looking for an FTP client is download.com, a shareware/freeware provider on the internet. Most of our users use an FTP client called WS_FTP for Windows, and Fetch or Transmit for Macintosh computers.
Once you have the program installed, you will need to run it. Follow the instructions provided by the program developers to run the application.
Within the program there will be a setup screen. The three things you will need are hostname, username, and your password.
Hostname: ftp.yourdomain.com
Username: Username (check your Welcome email)
Password: Password (check your Welcome email)
Your username and password will be the ones you have previously set up in the control panel for your website.
If you are behind a firewall, you may need to click on the “Passive” setting for your file transfers. This will allow you to transfer files through the firewall successfully
